ABOUT US

Incorporated in 2014, we are a not-for-profit state administrative body affiliated to the Australian Kyudo Association, and aim to support the practice and development of Kyudo for the clubs within Victoria. VKA is administered by an elected council - to meet our current committee, head to:

LOCATIONS

Kyudo Clubs

Victoria currently have two active dojos for people who are interested in the martial art and would like to join in.
The clubs are run individually - introduction courses, training times and fees are set at the club's discretion.

MELBOURNE KYUDO KAI

The first Kyudo club in Melbourne, MKK trains at the sports centre of Victoria University Footscray Park campus every Sunday morning from 9.30am to 12pm for beginners, and to 1pm for experienced members. The club is not affiliated to the university, and is open to all.

ODOGUMA KYUDO MELBOURNE

Inspired by one of many old names for the city of Melbourne, Bearbrass, OKM is a friendly kyudo club open to all for all levels that ensures members learn the basics, and aim to provide varied skill content regularly during training. OKM runs beginner courses three times a year and trains at North Melbourne Community Centre every Sunday morning from 10.30am to 1pm for all members, with additional training available for experienced members on Wednesday nights from 7pm till closing.

UNITED UNI KYUDO CLUB

Uniting universities and their students with the joys of Kyudo.
The core members of UUNIKC have been training in Kyudo since 2014, under the instruction of different sensei both in Australia and overseas. Originally the LaTrobe University Kyudo Club, it was restricted to LTU students predominantly, but now welcome anyone, faculty or student, from any university, as well as members of the public who would like to learn Kyudo. Training sessions on Sunday mornings at the Darebin Community Sports Centre from  9am.

FAQ

HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER?

Join any Kyudo club recognised by the VKA (listed under Locations), and they will facilitate the annual state and national fee payable to the VKA and Australian Kyudo Association (AKA). Being part of the network enables you to receive insurance cover and access to national seminars, examinations, and international events.

CAN I PARTNER WITH VKA FOR EVENTS?

We are an administrative body - however we are open to negotiation and are able to facilitate communication with our registered clubs. For demonstrations, please note that due to safety reasons, it is subject to the physical space at the event, individual club schedules and the availability of members that are able to undertake the demonstration.

IS THERE AN AGE RESTRICTION?

Each club have a different policy regarding underage practitioners. Please get in contact with the club of your choosing for more information.
